Running the NYC Marathon for Doctors Without Borders

I’m running the 2015 TCS NYC Marathon on November 1, 2015. My fundraising goal to benefit the kick-ass organization Doctors without Borders is $3000. Donate here.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Here we go again: I need your help

There were three things I firmly believed I would never do: moving to the US, living in New York City, and running a marathon. And here I am: I’ve been in the US for 21 years, in New York City for almost 9, and I’ve just signed up to run in New York City Marathon on November 1st.

Every time I did something that I swore I would never do, it was because I received an offer I could not refuse. A great post-doc at the University of Oregon and the opportunity to be with the person I loved. A job at Google. An offer to be one of the 80 members of Doctors without Borders team at the the 2015 TCS NYC Marathon. Doctors without Borders is one of two non-profit I’m passionate about (the other one is Partners in Health). If there is one reason for me to ever run a marathon, this is it.

Doctors without Borders, Nobel prize recipient in 1999, provides emergency medical and humanitarian aid in areas that are often dangerous and difficult to reach and where people desperately need help. Recently, they played a crucial role in fighting the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, but their work reaches all corners of the globe and tackles some of the most difficult medical and humanitarian challenges.

I pledged to raise at least $1500 by August 15 and $3000 by October 25 for Doctors without Borders. Please help me reach my goal. I’ll be training hard in the next few months (in the hot and humid New York summer!) so I can start strong on the super-steep Verrazano Bridge and finish strong in Central Park. Donations of every amount are greatly appreciated.

Make a secure donation on my fundraising page (Yes, your gift is 100% tax deductible and you should ask for corporate match)

With gratitude,

Antonella
